Herbal Salad Recipe

Some people are so lucky that they have their own personal backyard garden! But all you need for this quick, healthy, and affordable meal is access to a farmers’ market and a few familiar ingredients. It is important to remember that you can make good food without being a full-time professional chef. There is also no reason you need to break the bank.

There are numerous health benefits to eating a fresh, tasty salad mix for a meal. The dark green leafy vegetables especially will add vitamins to your diet the natural way. Greens like spinach and kale are packed with fat-soluble vitamins A, C, E, and K, as well as necessary water-soluble B vitamins.  Dark green leafy mixes are also likely to contain high amounts of antioxidants which help fight free radicals, preventing cancer and heart disease. However, the most notable appeal of salad mix is its low calories, low carbohydrates, and low glycemic index, making it the perfect weight loss food.

 

What you will need:

  • Salad mix (some ideas include: spring mix, romaine lettuce hearts, baby spinach)
  • Lemon or red vinegar
  • Madrecita herbal mixture: Seasoning and Sprinkle for Salads, Pizza, Soups & Stews
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Directions:

Portion the salad mix onto your plate as needed, then squeeze the lemon over the leaves. If you do not have fresh lemon juice, red vinegar will make a great substitute. Sprinkle the Madrecita mix to taste, to add zesty flavor to your salad, bringing it to life! Then top off the dressings with a final round of (around one or two teaspoons) extra virgin olive oil.
