Ground Chile de Arbol will add heat, red color and wonderful flavor to salsas or any food. Arbol can be used instead of Cayenne pepper or as a substitute for Chile Pequin. This chili pepper is also known as "bird's beak" or "rat's tail" chili. Chile de Arbol is often used in decorative wreaths because the chilies do not loose their bright red color after being dried. Arbol chilies are rated around 15,000 to 30,000 units on the Scoville scale.
