The most popular tea in Japan, Sencha Green Tea is believed to have many beneficial properties. It has a stronger taste and aroma than Chinese green tea and is preferred by many people. Sencha green tea contains caffeine.

Sencha gets it's unique flavor from the way it is processed. Instead of being pan fired, the tea leaves are steamed for around 15 seconds, then rolled and dried. This process results in a tea with a more "grassy" flavor and a much darker green color when brewed. Sencha should not be confused with matcha. Matcha is made by grinding whole tea leaves into powder.
